Do you have a Zebra scanner or a Zebra label printer? Zebra is a brand, and it makes two different devices used with Ebriza, which are installed in completely different ways:
the Zebra label printer (this article) — connects by LAN cable to your local network and is added in Ebriza from the Devices menu; it prints product labels;
the Zebra barcode scanner (for example the DS2278) — pairs over Bluetooth from the iPad's Settings, is not added in Ebriza and does not appear in the device list; it is used to add products to a bill by scanning.
If you have a scanner, go to the article "How to set up a barcode scanner with Ebriza POS NEXT?".
Before connecting the printer to Ebriza, you need to make sure you’ve completed all the setup steps from the printer’s manual, and—very important—you’ve configured the label size you’re going to use.
You can do this with the Zebra Printer Setup Utility mobile app, which you can download on your phone from the App Store.
Media Settings – set the label width and length, which you’ll find on the label roll.
Change the measurement unit from inches to mm in App Settings.
IMPORTANT
The Zebra label printer works on iPads running iOS 16 or later, including iOS 17, 18, and 26, starting with version 1.24.8 of the Ebriza POS NEXT app. Update the app from the App Store.
If you previously received information that the printer only works on iOS 16 or older, this is no longer the case. This was not a limitation of the printer or the iOS system, but an issue in our application, which has now been resolved.
There is no need to keep an older tablet for the label printer.
After you’ve configured the printer, connect it via LAN cable to the same network as the other devices in your sales system, then link it to Ebriza:
Go to the Devices menu, then click the Add Peripheral button.
2. Select the Zebra printer from the list.
3. Wait for the printer to be found on the network, then add the tags and/or rooms for which you want it to print labels. The search may take up to approximately one minute on a normal network — as long as the loading bar is progressing, the scan is running and is not stuck. The printer will appear in the list under its configured device name.
If the printer is not found, look at the loading bar: if it jumps directly to 100% and doesn’t find anything, the app did not scan the local network at all because the iPad did not grant it Local Network permission. The steps are described in the article “Troubleshooting cash register connection with Ebriza POS / Ebriza POS NEXT” , and they are the same for any peripheral.
Add the Printer by IP Address
If the printer does not appear in the list after searching, you can add it directly by entering its IP address manually from the same screen.
Enter only the IP address, for example
192.168.1.50, if the printer uses the standard port 9100.Enter the IP address and port separated by a colon, for example
192.168.1.50:6101, if the ZPL port has been changed on the printer. You can find the port in the Zebra Printer Setup Utility app.
Adding the printer by IP is also the solution when the printer is on a different subnet than the tablet (the first three groups of digits in the IP addresses are different): automatic discovery only covers the tablet's subnet. Reserve a fixed IP address for the printer in the router settings so that it does not change after a restart.
