iOS permissions required by the Ebriza apps (POS, KDS, CDS)

Written by Iulia

The Ebriza apps run on iOS and need a few system permissions in order to work fully. iOS requests each permission ONLY ONCE, the first time the app is opened or when the device is registered, through the “Allow Ebriza” prompts. If “Don't Allow” was tapped then, iOS will never ask again on its own — no app can show that prompt a second time. The only way to recover is to enable the permission manually in Settings.

For this reason, in recent versions, the Ebriza apps show you their own dialog whenever a permission is denied and take you straight to the right page in Settings.

Which permissions are checked

  • Ebriza POS and Ebriza KDS: Notifications, Location and Local Network.

  • Ebriza CDS (Customer Display): Location and Local Network. CDS does not show system notifications, so it does not check that permission.

  • Camera is not part of this check — it is only requested when you actually tap the scan button.

The check only runs on iOS.

When the dialog appears

  • Immediately after you refuse a permission.

  • On the first registration (login) page and at the end of device registration.

  • Then periodically while the app is open, until the permission is granted.

Why the dialog keeps appearing

Because the refusal is not stored anywhere: as long as the permission stays denied, the app asks again. This is not an error and does not mean the app is broken. Once you grant the permission, the dialog is gone for good. If you dismiss the dialog, nothing else happens — you can keep working, with that feature switched off.

If you accept a dialog, the app sends you to Settings and waits there, so you never get two dialogs on top of each other. When you come back to the app, it carries on checking the remaining permissions — you do not have to restart the app.

Local Network

The dialog: “Local Network Access” — “This app needs local network access to discover and communicate with printers and other POS devices. Would you like to enable it?”.

What it is for: without it, the app cannot search for or communicate with fiscal printers, kitchen printers, label printers and payment terminals on the network. The classic symptom is that the search bar for a peripheral jumps instantly to 100% and finds nothing.

How to enable it: Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → turn on the switch for the Ebriza app.

After turning the switch on, return to the app and run the peripheral search again.

If the Ebriza app does not appear at all in the Local Network list in Settings, the permission was never requested on that device. The full steps are in the article “Troubleshooting Fiscal Printer Connection with Ebriza POS”.

Worth knowing: a slow or unstable Wi-Fi network does not trigger this dialog. The app only shows it when the refusal is clearly detected.

Location

The dialog: “Location access” — “This app needs location access to identify the Wi-Fi network your devices are connected to. Would you like to enable it?”.

What it is for: iOS and Android only let an app read the name of the Wi-Fi network if it has location access. Ebriza uses that name to recognise which network a device is working on and to notice when it changes. The app still works without this permission — nothing stops — but that information is missing, which makes network problems harder to diagnose.

How to enable it: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → select the Ebriza app → “While Using the App”. You can also find it directly in Settings, under the Ebriza app.

If you tapped “Allow Once”, iOS returns to the “not asked” state on its own after a period of inactivity and will ask again — that is not an error.

Notifications

The dialog: “Allow notifications” — “Without this you will not be alerted about new delivery orders, printer problems or unavailable products while the app is in the background. Open Settings to enable notifications?”.

What it is for: without it, you do not get on-screen alerts while the app is not in the foreground (printer out of paper, delivery order cancelled, product unavailable and so on). The notifications themselves remain visible inside the app, under the bell icon in the upper-right corner.

How to enable it: Settings → Notifications → select the Ebriza app → turn on “Allow Notifications”.

Camera

The dialog: “Camera access” — “The camera is used to scan product barcodes and the QR code that pairs a new device. Open Settings to enable it?”.

What it is for: scanning barcodes to add products to a receipt, and scanning the QR code to add a device. The dialog appears only when you tap scan, not at app start.

How to enable it: Settings → find the Ebriza app → turn on Camera.

I cannot find the app in Settings

If the Ebriza app does not appear in Settings under that category at all, the permission was never requested on that device. In that case, the device has to be registered again.

Before deleting or uninstalling anything, check whether you have unsynchronized receipts — the app warns you on its own. If you see that message, stop: those receipts are permanently lost when the app is uninstalled. First resolve synchronization, then follow the steps in the article “Troubleshooting Fiscal Printer Connection with Ebriza POS”.
