Glovo menu synchronization stops with an error — check your product configuration structure

What to check when Glovo menu synchronization returns an error: the main category and empty categories.

Written by Andreea Lazar

You clicked Sync. menu on your Glovo brand and the synchronization stopped with an error instead of completing.

In almost all cases, the cause is the structure of the product configuration you are synchronizing, not a broken integration or a platform issue. The validation that stops the synchronization is performed by us before the menu is sent to Glovo, so the error message itself tells you which category or product is causing the problem. This is something you can fix yourself in just a few minutes.

The two things to check

  1. The configuration must have a main category. Glovo accepts the menu in exactly three levels: main category, your categories inside it, and the products inside those categories. Create a main category (customers usually call it “Glovo”), put the categories you want to see on Glovo inside it, and place the products in those categories. A product placed directly in the configuration root, or directly in the main category, will stop the synchronization — as will a third category level.

  2. No category can be left empty. A category without any products will stop the synchronization, and its name will appear directly in the error message.

Attention: this structure is required only by Glovo. Bolt Food and Wolt do not require a main category. This is why the same configuration can synchronize without issues on Bolt or Wolt and return an error on Glovo — the fact that “it works on Bolt” does not mean the structure is also correct for Glovo.

What the error message means?

The messages start with “Menu structure for Glovo is: 'category / category / product' but found ...”. After this beginning, the message tells you exactly what was found:

  • “but found 'product (X) / ...'” — product X is placed directly in the configuration root; the main category is missing.

  • “but found category without items!” followed by the category name — that category is empty.

  • “but found 'category (X) / product (Y) / ...'” — product Y is placed directly in the main category X instead of being inside one of its categories.

  • “but found 'category (X) / category (Y) / category (Z)'” — you have three category levels, one more than Glovo allows.

  • “No items found to send to Glovo!” — the configuration selected for synchronization is empty.

What you need to do?

  1. Go to Product Catalog - Product Configuration.

  2. Open the configuration you are synchronizing with Glovo. If you are not sure which one it is, you can see it in the Glovo app, under Brand Settings - Sync. menu: this is the configuration selected for your brand.

  3. Make sure there is a main category, with your categories inside it and the products inside those categories.

  4. Make sure no category has been left empty. Add products to it or remove it from the configuration.

  5. Save the configuration and run the synchronization again: Apps - Glovo app - Brand Settings - Sync. menu.

If you are not sure what needs to be corrected, contact us through the chat in your account or at support@ebriza.com and we will tell you exactly which category is empty or which product is in the wrong place.

Don't confuse this with other situations

  • The synchronization completed without an error, but some products are missing from the platform — the products were not included in the configuration used for synchronization. See the article “I synchronized the menu, but some products are missing from the delivery platform (Glovo, Wolt, Bolt Food)”.

  • The product appears on Glovo but is marked as unavailable — this is the product's availability, not the configuration structure.

  • After the structure is correct, products can still be rejected if they have descriptions longer than 2,000 characters, names or descriptions containing emojis, or images that do not meet the platform's requirements. These should be checked after the structure and only if the error message specifically mentions them.
