The Marketing application covers four promotion mechanisms. If what you want to do does not fit any of them, this article tells you directly and provides an alternative, so you don't configure a promotion that doesn't work the way you expect.
The four types:
Bonus — when purchasing one product, another product is free. Example: a free fresh juice when purchasing an espresso.
Volume Discount — a percentage discount based on the number of units of the same product. Example: 50% off 2 units. You can add multiple tiers, and the first tier must be at least 2 units.
Product Discount — a percentage discount on specific products or categories, with no quantity requirement.
Order Discount — a percentage discount on the total order value.
Benefit step in a volume promotion, with units and discount
Benefit in a volume discount — Tiers are defined as Units + Discount. The text on the screen explicitly states that the first value must be 2 units.
Benefit step in a bonus promotion, with the list of free products
Benefit in a bonus promotion — Here, you don't enter a percentage; you select the products that are offered for free.
Where can each type be applied?
The options available under Loyalty are not the same for all promotion types:
Type | Automatic | Manual | Customer-specific | Voucher |
Bonus | Yes | — | — | — |
Volume Discount | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Product Discount | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Order Discount | — | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Loyalty step for a bonus promotion, with a single option
Loyalty for Bonus — Only one option is available: Apply automatically. A bonus cannot be linked to a customer or issued as a voucher.
What you cannot do — and what to do instead?
There is no counter across receipts. Promotions are evaluated based on the current receipt. You cannot configure “on the 7th coffee, get one free”, loyalty points, or a stamp card. Alternative: keep track of this outside the application and offer the coffee as a 100% discount on the receipt, then deduct the product from stock using a consumption receipt.
There is no fixed-price bundle. “Any 3 pizzas = 99 RON” cannot be configured because the benefit is always a percentage. Alternative: create a separate product called “3-pizza bundle” in the Nomenclature at 99 RON, with modifiers for selecting the three pizzas, and add a recipe so the correct stock quantities are deducted.
You cannot target “the cheapest product on the receipt”. For example, “50% off the cheapest product” is not available in the configuration screen.
The benefit is always percentage-based. A fixed amount discount in RON cannot be configured as a promotion; it must be applied in the POS as a quick discount, where you can choose between a percentage and a fixed amount.
The Marketing application does not send SMS messages or emails. In Ebriza, “campaign” means a promotion applied to a receipt in the POS, not a communication sent to customers.
TERMS
In Ebriza, campaign and promotion mean the same thing. The configuration screen asks you to enter a Campaign name, while the POS displays the available promotions in the Campaign section.
