The category navigation bar [Ebriza POS NEXT]

How to jump straight from one product category to another without going back

Written by Ionut

NEW: When you are inside a product category, a vertical bar appears next to the product grid listing the other categories on the same level. One tap takes you straight into another category, without going back to the previous screen.

What it looks like and where it appears

The bar is titled “Jump to:” and shows one card per neighbouring category — that is, every category sitting under the same parent as the one you are in. Each card carries the category’s colour and icon as you set them in the nomenclator, plus its name. A category you have not given an icon shows just its name and colour.

  • The bar appears on the table bill and on the bill of a delivery order.

  • It is available on tablets. It does not appear on phones, and it does not appear on the counter sales screen.

  • The bar sits on the side opposite the order ticket: if the ticket is on the right, the bar is on the left edge of the screen, and the other way round. You change the ticket position from Settings → Order and Receipt Configuration → Order Ticket Position.

When the bar is empty

On the first screen (the main category list) and while you are searching for a product, the bar stays empty — there are no neighbouring categories there. Its space is kept, so the product grid does not shift when you then step into a category.

If you have many categories

The cards stretch over the full height of the bar, so with few neighbouring categories they are large and with many they get smaller. They are never shrunk below a minimum size: if you have more categories than fit, the first ones are shown. The bar does not scroll.

How to turn the bar on or off

The setting is on by default. If you do not want it, you can turn it off:

  1. In the POS, tap Other (the lines button in the bottom bar), then Settings.

  2. Open the Order and Receipt Configuration section.

  3. At Enable category navigation bar, switch it off or on, then tap Save.

The setting is individual per user on that tablet: if you turn it off, colleagues who log in on the same tablet keep it on. The change applies as soon as you return to the sales screen — no app restart needed.
