Ebriza POS works without the need for a server installed on site. Regardless of the number of devices, they are synchronized with each other using the local network. You don't need the internet to work, you just need it to sync your data in the cloud for reporting.

1. iOS and Android devices

Important: the equipment list in this article refers to the current Ebriza applications (the old ones). The new applications do not have the same device requirements, so check the row for the application you are interested in:

We plan to replace all the old applications with new versions over the course of this year. If you are purchasing equipment now: for the kitchen, choose an iPad with a screen of at least 10 inches; for POS, you can use any iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or later.

Do you have an iPad or iPhone running the old Ebriza POS app? Moving to Ebriza POS NEXT is mandatory.

As announced by email, the old Ebriza POS app for iOS is no longer supported. Install Ebriza POS NEXT from the App Store on an iPhone or iPad running iOS/iPadOS 16 or later, and sign in with the same username and password.

If your device runs a version older than iOS 16 and cannot be updated, POS NEXT cannot be installed on it. In this case, the device must be replaced with an iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or later. The move is still mandatory.

Already using Android devices? You don't need to replace them for now: on Android, the old Ebriza POS app is still supported. We are also working on a POS NEXT version for Android and will notify customers when it becomes available. However, we do not have a release date yet — so, if you want to switch to POS NEXT now, you’ll need an iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or later.

This Android version refers specifically to POS NEXT; for the kitchen (KDS) and customer display (CDS), iPad remains the supported device.

Please note: no Ebriza app can be installed on Windows. Neither Ebriza POS (the old app) nor Ebriza POS NEXT has a Windows version (nor a macOS or Linux version), so they cannot be installed on a computer, a laptop, or a Windows-based POS system (for example a Posiflex terminal running Windows). Ebriza POS NEXT runs on an iPhone or iPad with iOS/iPadOS 16 or later, installed from the App Store; the old Ebriza POS app runs only on the devices in the “Mobile POS devices” list below (iPad, iPhone, Android).

2. Router

Any type of router that provides a secure network connection. It facilitates communication between all connected devices.

3. Cash register

Cash register for printing tax receipts. It connects to the network via ethernet or WiFi cable, depending on the model. Go to the Ebriza POS settings, add the desired model and we will find it automatically in the network. No drivers or configuration.

4. Thermal printer

Prints receipts automatically from the tablet. You can use as many printers as you need, one for each work section. Just configure the tags and the products will print to the correct printer.

5. Payments

POS (Viva Wallet), Soft Payments (GP Tom)

Only the models listed below are integrated with Ebriza. If your cash register model does not appear on this list, it is not compatible with Ebriza, even if it is from the same manufacturer - for example, among Datecs cash registers, only the DP-25, DP-150, WP-500 and FP-950 MX are integrated. The cash register must be able to connect to the same local network as the tablet: via a network cable connected to the router for Datecs models, while the Partner 200 and 600 models can also connect via Wi-Fi. Bluetooth connections are not supported.

2. iPhone

Attention: the old Ebriza POS app for iPhone is no longer supported. On iPhone, use Ebriza POS NEXT, which requires iOS 16 or later.

Datecs FP-950 MX

Datecs fiscal printer, available in Ebriza POS NEXT.

Connects with a LAN cable to the network; the device's interface must be set to LAN (Ethernet). The full steps are in the article "How to install a Datecs FP-950 MX fiscal printer? [Ebriza POS NEXT]".

The thermal printers listed below are ESC/POS printers (also written as “esc pos” or “ecs/pos”) — NON-FISCAL printers that print kitchen and bar order receipts, payment notes, delivery receipts, and the fiscal invoice issued to a customer from the POS. They never print the fiscal receipt: for the fiscal receipt, you need a cash register from those listed above, which is a completely different device. The condition that determines whether a thermal printer is compatible is that it can be connected to the same local network as the tablet, via a network cable to the router. The confirmed brands are listed below.

Adhesive label printer: prints product labels, NOT order receipts and NOT fiscal receipts. It is not an ESC/POS receipt printer. It connects to the network via a LAN cable and is added from the Devices menu.

Attention: Zebra also produces a barcode scanner — this is a different device, which you can find below in the Retail section, and it is installed completely differently (via Bluetooth, from the tablet’s settings).

Only the Zebra label printer is compatible. Label printers from other manufacturers are not compatible with Ebriza, even if they emulate the Zebra languages (ZPL or EPL), and cannot be added in the app.

Non-fiscal thermal printer that connects to the network via a LAN cable. The Birch CPQ1 model has its own row in the add list in POS NEXT. The steps are in the article “How to install a non-fiscal printer Birch CPQ1? [Ebriza POS NEXT]”.

In Ebriza POS NEXT, a few models have their own row in the add list, with their picture: Birch CPQ1, Citizen CT-E301 and Epson M296A. If you have one of them, choose it rather than “ESC/POS Generic”, because the model you choose sets the correct print width. “ESC/POS Generic” is the last row in the list and is for thermal printers that do not have their own row. We do not guarantee correct operation on it.

The Viva Wallet Android POS terminal connects to your phone or tablet over the network. You connect the terminal in the same way you connect a cash register. Viva Wallet terminal integration works in Ebriza POS NEXT (on iPad) and, in the old app, only on Android devices. If you are using the old app on an iPad or iPhone, you need to switch to Ebriza POS NEXT to use the terminal.

Turn your Android phone into a POS terminal. Soft payments allow you to accept card payments directly on your phone that already runs Ebriza.

Terminals provided by your bank are not integrated with the app. They do not appear in the Devices menu and cannot be added, so the amount is not sent to the terminal automatically. You can still take payments on them: type the amount on the terminal, then close the receipt in Ebriza using the Card payment method. The only card terminals integrated with Ebriza POS Next are Viva Wallet and GP TOM, listed above.

Important: You can use any other type of router but it is very important to be properly configured to avoid connection problems

Important: Zebra manufactures scanners and label printers, not scales. If you were told that you have a “Zebra scale,” it is most likely a Zebra scanner that reads the label printed by a scale from another brand.

Q: Can I install Ebriza POS or Ebriza POS NEXT on a Windows POS system (for example Posiflex), a computer, or a laptop?

A: No. Neither Ebriza POS nor Ebriza POS NEXT can be installed on Windows, so they cannot be installed on a Posiflex system running Windows either. Ebriza POS NEXT runs on an iPhone or iPad with iOS/iPadOS 16 or later and is installed from the App Store. Posiflex appears in this article only as a (non-fiscal) thermal printer, which connects over the network to the same router as the device running Ebriza — not as a device you install the app on.

Q: Can I use an Epson fiscal printer with Ebriza?

A: No. Epson is compatible only as a non-fiscal thermal printer (TM-T20, TM-T88, etc. models).

For fiscal receipts, use one of the compatible cash registers listed above: Datecs (DP-25, DP-150, WP-500, FP-950 MX) or Partner (200, 600). However, note that “non-fiscal only” does not mean “only order receipts and payment notes.” The same Epson printer can also print, directly from the POS, the fiscal invoice issued to a customer — the steps are described in the article “How do I issue an invoice to a customer in POS? [Ebriza POS NEXT]”.

Q: Which Epson printer models can I connect to Ebriza as a thermal printer?

A: Epson printer models are compatible with our application if they can connect via LAN cable or wireless to the network. For network stability, we recommend wired connection to the router, with the device running the Ebriza app connected to the same network.

Q: Can I enable a sound when order receipts are printed?

A: This setting cannot be configured from the Ebriza app, as it depends on each printer model's hardware configuration. Contact the printer supplier for assistance — some models offer this hardware feature.

Q: My cash register does not have a network (LAN) port. Can I use it with Ebriza?
​A: It depends on the model. Ebriza communicates with the cash register only through the local network, on the same network as the tablet. Datecs cash registers (DP-25, DP-150, WP-500 and FP-950 MX) connect only with a network cable to the router, so without a LAN port they cannot be used. The Partner 200 and 600 can also connect over Wi-Fi, to the same network as the tablet. Bluetooth connections are not supported on any model. We do not recommend using adapters, bridges, or Wireless-to-Ethernet converters as a solution: these are not configurations supported by Ebriza and, in addition, such a bridge provides a network port, so it only helps a device that already has a LAN port. For fiscal receipts, choose one of the cash registers listed above.

Q: My cash register model does not appear on the list. Will it work anyway?
​A: Only the models listed in this article are integrated: Datecs DP-25, DP-150, WP-500 and FP-950 MX, and Partner 200 and 600.

Q: Which ESC/POS (thermal, non-fiscal) printers can I connect to Ebriza?

A:The confirmed brands are Star, Epson (the TM-T20, TM-T88 and M296A models), Birch, Posiflex, Sam4S and Citizen. Details for each are in the “Thermal printers” section above. In Ebriza POS NEXT, Birch CPQ1, Citizen CT-E301 and Epson M296A have their own row when you add a printer. All other printers are added as “ESC/POS Generic”. The printer must be connected to the same local network as the tablet, with a network cable to the router. This question is not about cash registers: the cash register is the device for the fiscal receipt and has its own list, earlier in this article.

Q: Which thermal (non-fiscal) printer do you recommend I buy for the kitchen or bar with Ebriza POS NEXT?

A: We recommend the models that have their own row, with their picture, in the add list in Ebriza POS NEXT (Devices → Printers and peripherals → Add): Epson M296A, Citizen CT-E301 and Birch CPQ1. All three connect to the router with a network cable, and the model you choose in the list sets the correct print width. Other thermal printers from the brands listed above (Star, other Epson models, Posiflex, Sam4S, other Citizen models) can only be added on the last row of the list, “ESC/POS Generic”, where we do not guarantee correct operation.

Q: My thermal printer has only a USB or serial (RS-232) port and no network port. Can I use it with Ebriza through a print server or an adapter?

A: No. Ebriza sends receipts to the thermal printer only over the local network, so the printer must have a network (Ethernet / LAN) port and be connected by cable to the same router as the tablet. We do not recommend print servers, USB-to-network adapters or serial-port converters, because they are not configurations Ebriza supports. What matters is the printer's interface, not its model. For example, the code M267A on the label of an Epson printer is the code for the whole TM-T20II series, which is sold with different interfaces: the USB or RS-232 version cannot be used, and the Ethernet version can be added as “ESC/POS Generic”. If you are about to buy a printer, see the question above about recommended models.

Q: My thermal printer gives an error when printing. Is it incompatible or is it broken?

A: First, check the brand and model and compare them with the list above. If the brand is not on the list, that is the cause. If the brand is on the list and the printer is connected via a network cable to the same router as the tablet, then compatibility is not the cause, and the issue should be investigated in the network or printing settings: check the printer’s IP address (you can find it by holding down the FEED button while restarting the printer) and follow the steps in the article “How do I install a non-fiscal printer? [Ebriza POS NEXT]”. If the printed report shows the address 192.168.192.168, the printer has not received an address from the network — first check the network cable connected to the router.

Q: Can I use a label printer from another brand (one that emulates ZPL or EPL) instead of Zebra?

A: No. Only the Zebra label printer is compatible with Ebriza. Label printers from other manufacturers are not compatible, even if they emulate ZPL or EPL. The app only recognizes and adds Zebra label printers, so a printer from another brand cannot be added. If you are about to buy a label printer, choose a Zebra one that can connect to the network with a LAN cable.
