In situations where the fiscal receipt did not print on the fiscal register, it will appear in red in the Receipts section of the POS Menu.
This usually happens when the fiscal register is not communicating properly with the Ebriza POS application.
Before reprinting the red receipt, check the following:
Does the total amount in the X/Z report match the sales in Ebriza?
If the physical receipt was printed AND the reports match → DO NOT reprint it. The receipt remained marked in red only because the Ebriza app did not receive the print confirmation from the fiscal printer. The fiscal situation is correct.
If the physical receipt was NOT printed (difference between Z report and Ebriza = receipt value) → reprint the receipt from the Receipts menu.
To reissue the receipt, go to the Receipts section and check whether there are any receipts displayed in red.
2. After identifying the receipt marked as “Fiscal receipt not printed,” click on Receipt Actions, then select “Reprint Receipt.”
If the reprint is done on a different day than the day the sale was made, read the “The cash register is currently unavailable - what do I do with sales?” section below first: the receipt is included in the Z report for the day on which it is reprinted.
The cash register is currently unavailable (the internet is down, the cable was disconnected, the cash register is turned off) - what do I do with sales?
As long as the cash register cannot be used, continue selling normally from Ebriza POS. Orders are closed as usual and remain unfiscalized: they appear in red in the POS Menu, under the Receipts section, with the status “Fiscal receipt not printed”. No order is lost.
Do not issue receipts manually, directly on the cash register, in parallel with Ebriza. Not as a temporary solution, “just for today”, and not even if it seems safer that way. A sale entered directly on the cash register:
no longer exists in Ebriza, so it is not included in reports, does not decrease stock, is not linked to the product catalog, and does not reach delivery applications;
causes the cash register's Z report to no longer match the sales in Ebriza, leaving a difference that must be reconciled;
duplicates the work: the same order is entered twice, in two different places.
When the cash register becomes available again (the tablet and cash register are back on the same network, the network cable is connected again, and the device is turned on), reprint the receipts that are still shown in red from the POS Menu, under Receipts, following the steps above, one receipt at a time.
There is no button such as “Print everything remaining”, and nothing is fiscalized automatically when the network comes back. Reprinting is done manually, one receipt at a time. For older receipts, also see the FAQ question “Can I reprint an older receipt that remained unprinted?”.
If the cash register was available for part of that day, the check described at the beginning of the article (the amount in the X/Z report compared with the sales in Ebriza) still applies before reprinting.
Which Z report do reprinted receipts go into?
The fiscal receipt is issued when printing successfully takes place on the cash register, not retroactively on the day the sale was made. This means that receipts that remain red today and are reprinted tomorrow will be included in tomorrow's Z report, not today's Z report.
Today's Z report will be lower than today's Ebriza sales by exactly the amount of the receipts that remained unprinted.
Tomorrow's Z report will be higher than tomorrow's Ebriza sales by exactly the same amount.
Nothing is broken and there is nothing to correct: this is the normal consequence of reprinting, and the two days explain each other. It is important to know this before reprinting, so you do not expect the receipts to appear on the Z report for the day on which the sale was made.
What happens if the connection to the Datecs fiscal printer is lost during printing?
On Datecs fiscal printers, if the connection between the tablet and the fiscal printer is lost after the receipt has been opened on the device but before it has been closed, the app directly checks with the fiscal printer what happened to that receipt. There are two possible situations:
The fiscal printer confirms that the receipt was issued: the order remains marked as printed, with the receipt number received from the device. Do not reprint it — this would issue a second fiscal receipt for the same order.
The receipt was not issued: the app immediately cancels the receipt that remained open on the fiscal printer, and the order remains highlighted in red, with the status “Fiscal receipt not printed”. At that point, the fiscal printer may print a slip marked CANCELED — this is the automatic cancellation of the failed attempt, not a receipt issued to the customer. The receipt can be reissued from the Receipts section, following the steps above.
The order receives a fiscal receipt number only if the device has confirmed that the receipt was issued. Therefore, an order that remains highlighted in red means that nothing was fiscalized for it on the fiscal printer.
Situations that should no longer occur on Datecs
If you still see any of the situations below on a Datecs fiscal printer, check that you have the latest version of Ebriza POS NEXT installed and let us know:
multiple different orders appear in Ebriza with the same fiscal receipt number;
the next customer's receipt is printed as CANCELED, without anyone having canceled anything;
the fiscal printer refuses new receipts or the Z report because it has a receipt left open, immediately after an order for which printing failed.
All of these situations were caused by a receipt remaining open on the device after an interrupted print attempt, and the app now clears it automatically.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can I reprint a receipt that's old and still unprinted?
A: Receipts older than 6 days cannot be reprinted directly from POS. To get a print:
1. Cancel the receipt from the admin account (Sales menu)
2. Re-mark the receipt in POS to reissue it with the current date
Q: I have errors when printing fiscal receipts. What should I check?
A: Three quick checks:
1. Go to POS Menu → Printers & Peripherals (or Devices in POS NEXT) and check if the printer appears in red (disconnected).
2. Check the settings: POS Menu → Settings → POS Settings — the option “Print receipts in test mode” must NOT be enabled (valid only for Ebriza POS).
3. Reinstall the printer: press and hold the printer for 2 seconds to delete it, then add it again using the “+” button.
After a power outage, printers may change their IP addresses, so they need to be removed and re-added.
Q: I want to print a bill/pre-check, but it does not print on the fiscal printer. Why?
A: Fiscal printers (cash registers) can print ONLY fiscal receipts, not bills/pre-checks or kitchen/order tickets. For bills/pre-checks and order tickets, you need a non-fiscal (thermal) printer — it must be configured separately from Printers & Peripherals / Devices.
Q: Can I get a copy of a fiscal receipt that was already issued?
Not from Ebriza — copies of already-issued fiscal receipts cannot be printed. The only option is to issue an electronic journal report (rolă martor) from the cash register buttons for the time interval when the receipt was issued, and check that receipt on the journal report. (This is different from reprinting red receipts that did not print on the cash register.)
Edge cases:
The receipt printed twice physically, but Ebriza shows only one entry
This happens when there's a communication error between Ebriza and the cash register: the receipt printed twice on the register, but Ebriza recorded only one order. How to handle:
1. Manually draft a cancellation report for one of the two printed receipts
2. Attach the report to that day's Z report
3. Send it to the accounting department
Receipts that are marked CANCELLED or are not fiscalized on a Partner cash register — check the “Low battery” message
On Partner cash registers, a low battery can prevent the receipt from being fiscalized: the device may either print a receipt marked CANCELLED or not print the receipt at all, while in Ebriza the receipt remains marked in red. This can happen with any receipt, not just long receipts with many products — including a single receipt that remains unprinted while others were printed normally on the same day.
How to check: look at the cash register screen at the exact moment the receipt is being printed and check whether the message “Low battery” appears (or the low-battery symbol).
If the message appears:
Connect the cash register to the charger or directly to a power outlet and leave it connected. In most cases, the message disappears and receipts print normally — the battery was simply discharged.
Only if the message persists after the device has been connected to power, contact the cash register supplier or authorized service provider to
Does it keep happening? Switch to Ebriza POS NEXT
If receipts keep being marked in red, meaning the application does not receive confirmation from the cash register that the receipt was printed, first check the causes related to the device and the network: the cash register battery, whether the cash register appears in red under Printers and Peripherals, and whether the tablet and cash register are on the same network. These issues need to be resolved anyway.
If the device and network are working properly and the issue keeps happening, we recommend switching to the new Ebriza POS NEXT application. This exact type of communication issue with the cash register, where printing is no longer confirmed, is resolved by switching to the new application.
How to switch: install Ebriza POS NEXT from the App Store on an iPad running iOS 16 or later, and log in with the same account. The installation is free. Ebriza POS NEXT is a separate application, so the old application will remain on the tablet until you delete it yourself, and the printing settings will be transferred automatically during installation. The new application is not currently available on Android devices, so an iPad is required.
For more details about the new application, see the article “What’s New in Ebriza POS NEXT?”.
