How Do You Delete an Item?
Go to the administration account and navigate to Inventory Management - Stock.
Find the item you want to delete in the list.
At the end of the row, click the three-dot button.
Select Delete and confirm.
What Happens to the History
Deleting the item does not delete your data. The item disappears from active lists — from Stock, from the ingredient search in recipes, and from the receiving columns of GRNs — but its entire history remains untouched: GRNs, sales, stock movements, reports, and the Analytical Stock Balance are not changed at all. The confirmation window explicitly tells you this with the message “The history of this product will not be affected.” This is precisely why deletion is allowed even for items with history.
The Three Situations Where Deletion Is Rejected
The message “You cannot delete the merchandise as long as the stock quantity is different from zero in at least one location.” — the item still has stock. Bring the quantity down to zero in EVERY location where you have inventory, not just the one currently displayed on your screen: by using a stock reset, an inventory followed by a reset, a consumption note, or a transfer. Then delete the item.
The message “You cannot delete the merchandise. There are products that contain this merchandise.” means that the item is used in the recipe of an active product. The message lists the codes of the respective products. Remove the item from the recipes of those products, from Product Catalog - product - Recipe, and then delete it.
This message is a protection, not a report, and should not be used to find out where an item is used: do not open the deletion window just to read the list of products. If the item is actually not used in any recipe and its stock is zero, the deletion will succeed and you will lose the item. To see the complete list of products that contain an item, go to Product Catalog - Products, type the name in the search bar, and select the item from the Recipe product group. Products and items that you have already deleted do not block anything — the check is performed only against active items. These three deletion rejections are not bugs, do not need to be unlocked by Support, and do not require escalation: you can resolve them yourself in your account.
One Thing to Remember for Later
When you delete an item, the link between the items on supplier invoices and the deleted merchandise is broken. Documents that have already been saved remain untouched. However, if you later edit or recreate an old receipt that contained the deleted item, Ebriza will notify you that there were deleted items on that date, and on that line you will need to select another item before saving. That's it — nothing from the history is lost.
Don't Confuse Deletion with Changing the Unit of Measure
There is indeed a rule related to inventory movements, but it concerns EDITING, not deletion: for an item that already has movements, you can no longer change the U.M. or the quantity per unit. See the article “Merchandise Unit Quantity” for details. That rule does not apply to deletion.
One more clarification: leaving the item at 0 stock is not an alternative to deletion; it is precisely a prerequisite for it. Once you have brought the quantity down to zero, you can delete the item.
Deleting is done from Inventory - Stocks, but adding is not. In Inventory there is no "add new item" button — not in Stocks, not in History, not in Inventory count. A new item is created in two places: from a product's recipe (Nomenclature - Products - a "Contains recipe" product - "Product recipe" - "Add raw material to recipe" - "Add") or directly on the goods receipt line, while receiving the invoice.
