The Wolt menu sync stops with the error "Menu update is disabled" — it is a restriction on Wolt's side

The Wolt sync stops

Written by Andreea Lazar

You pressed Sync menu on a Wolt brand and the sync stopped with an error containing the text "Menu update is disabled" (or an equivalent text saying that menu management via API is not enabled). You have not broken anything in your account and there is nothing to correct in your product configuration: it is a restriction set by Wolt, and we take care of getting it lifted.

What does the error mean?

For each venue (store), Wolt has a switch that allows menu management via API. When this switch is off, Wolt rejects the menu no matter what it contains. That switch is moved by Wolt, not by us and not by you.

So in this case the error has nothing to do with:

  • the structure of your product configuration or the number of category levels;

  • a category left empty;

  • product photos or descriptions;

  • the integration or the brand key in Ebriza — the very fact that you received a reply from Wolt proves the request reached them.

Nothing you do in Ebriza fixes this: not re-syncing the menu, not re-authorising the brand, not rearranging the categories, not replacing the photos.

Usually all the brands in the account are affected

The restriction sits on the Wolt venue, so as a rule it appears on all the account's brands at once, not only on the one you started the sync from. Check the sync on each brand and tell us the names of all the brands where the error appears.

What you need to do?

1. Write to us on the chat in your account or at support@ebriza.com and tell us that the Wolt menu sync stops with "Menu update is disabled".

2. Send us the names of the affected brands (you can see them in Apps → the Wolt app → Brand settings).

3. That's all. We e-mail the Wolt team ourselves, for your brands, so that Wolt enables menu management via API, and we let you know when it is resolved.

You do not need to contact Wolt support yourself, nor your Wolt account manager. The activation is done by Wolt's technical (API) team, which restaurants cannot reach directly — that is why going through us is the efficient route. It is a known error that we see at several restaurants.

We cannot give you an exact resolution time, because it depends on Wolt. We will come back to you as soon as the activation is done, and then you run the sync again: Apps → the Wolt app → Brand settings → Sync menu.

Do not confuse it with other situations

  • The error is "Can't have a third level category (category name)!" — in that case it is your configuration's structure and you fix it yourself. Wolt accepts at most two category levels. See the article "The Glovo menu sync stops with an error — check the structure of your product configuration", which has the table with each platform's limits.

  • The error names an empty category, a description that is too long or a non-compliant image — these are in your menu too and you fix them yourself.

  • The sync finished without an error, but products are missing on Wolt — the products were not in the configuration you synced from. See the article "I synced the menu, but some products do not appear on the delivery platform".

  • No more orders are coming in from Wolt — this is most likely the brand authorisation, which has expired, and you renew it yourself. See the section "3. RENEWING THE AUTHORISATION" in the article "The Wolt integration".
